The kaupapa

This course is part of something bigger

Mangaroa Farms is a charitable trust dedicated to ecological restoration, regenerative food systems, and reconnecting people with the living earth that sustains us. This course is part of that kaupapa.

As you make your way around, we invite you to slow down occasionally. Look up at the hills, notice the trees, the wind, the insects, the soil beneath your feet. Hopefully you'll find your disc quickly… but if you don't, it's a good excuse to explore.

We're blessed to have the Mangaroa River weave through the course, running approx 20km north to meet Te Awa Kairangi / Hutt River. West from here sits the Mangaroa peatland — 300 hectares and up to 8 metres deep, the largest wet peatland in the lower North Island. What happens in this valley travels a long way downstream.

The farm around you is a former dairy farm now in regenerative pasture, backing onto 500+ acres of native old-growth forest, with 700+ acres of pine on the hills in front of you planned to return to native ngahere over the next few years. Over 55,000 trees have been planted across the farm so far, plus 15km of fencing to keep stock out of the waterways.

This course is still growing, just like the farm. Thanks for being part of the journey. Enjoy the challenge. Enjoy the walk.

May your discs fly true!

New to disc golf?

Played like golf — thrown, not hit

Disc golf is played like traditional golf, but instead of hitting a ball into a hole, players throw a flying disc at a metal basket in as few throws as possible.

The River Run course offers two tee pads on every hole:

More difficult

Players Course

Longer, more technical lines — for players chasing a challenge.

Beginner friendly

Community Course

Shorter, more accessible layout — beginner and whānau friendly.

You're welcome to play a full round from either set of tees, or mix and match to suit your mood and skill level. If logging scores on UDisc, please stick to one layout for consistency.
