Community Planting Day — Sat 15th August | 10:00AM - 3:00PM

Saturday, 15 August 2026, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm Other

This event is sold out. Join us on Sat 29th August for our next planting day. Sign up. Come and join us for one of our favourite days of the year as we plant native trees and restore ecosystems in the Valley. This year we'll be planting a special area on the Farm, helping create healthier waterways, richer biodiversity, and a more resilient landscape for future generations. Whether you've planted one tree or one thousand, everyone is welcome. We'll be planting from 10:00am–3:00pm, followed by a Mangaroa Farms sausage sizzle and soup. If the weather is in our favour we'd also love to celebrate with you around the fire with music, yarns and maybe even some dancing. What to bring:🌿 BYO lunch and snacks (to see you through to 3pm)💧 Water bottle🥾 Sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing (warm layers essential)🪏 If you have a spade, pocket knife and/or rubber mallet (for hitting in staples), feel free to bring those along Whether you're coming to give back, learn a few skills, meet good people, or simply spend a day outdoors, we'd love to have you with us. Also a shout out to Greater Wellington for supplying the trees and Groundtruth for the planting plan. Many hands make light work and every tree planted is an investment in the generations to come. We will begin at Sat 16th August | 10:00am at 528 Whitemans Valley Road. More info will be sent closer to the time. Any questions, please email events@mangaroa.org

Tree Planting + Grafting Day for Fruit & Forage Loop — Sat 29th August | 9:30AM - 1:30PM

Saturday, 29 August 2026, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm Shop - 98 Whitemans Valley Road

Come and help us plant the first chapter of the Mangaroa Fruit & Forage walking track. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, and matched support through the Ma Earth Fund, we're excited to begin bringing this vision to life. Over the coming years, our 4km farm loop will become an edible landscape filled with heritage fruit trees, nuts, berries, medicinal plants, and foraging species. A place of abundance, learning, biodiversity, and community for generations to come. It felt only right that a trail for the community, funded by the community, could also be planted by the community. Before we get planting, local tree crop legends Hannah Dawson and Eric Cairns will share a few practical tips and some of the wisdom behind heritage fruit trees and long-term orchard establishment. Then we'll roll up our sleeves and begin planting the first section of what we hope becomes one of Mangaroa's most loved spaces. What to bring:🥾 Sturdy footwear🌦 Weather-appropriate clothing💧 Water bottle🪏 A spade if you have one Whether you're sponsoring a tree, curious about the project, or simply keen to spend a morning outdoors doing something worthwhile, we'd love to have you with us. We will begin at Sat 29th August | 9:30am at the Farm Shop - 98 Whitemans Valley Road. We'll wrap up around 1:30pm with a classic Mangaroa sausage sizzle, good yarns, and a chance to celebrate the beginning of something special back at the Farm Shop.
