Foraging with Earth School Aotearoa | Roots — Sat 4th July | 1:30PM - 2:30PM

Saturday, 4 July 2026, 2:30 pm – 1:30 pm Mangaroa Market Garden

Join the Earth School Aotearoa theme for a wild forage walk, timed with the season . We are big believers in learning with our Children, be it adult ones, or younger, so this walk is priced per family, not per person. Come as one, or come as many and come for a wild forage walk looking at winter foraging, discovering what lies underground and harvesting roots. The walk is pram friendly, and will be about 1 hour. Price is per family. Please park in the paddock beside the shop and meet under the farm shop shelter. Wet weather. We will notify if we need to cancel within 48 hours, if the weather is too wet we have alternative locations and we may choose to make food from foraged plants instead. However if it’s too wet and cold we will likely cancel and you can join the following month. Please email hannah@earthschool.nz for any questions.

Community Herbalism with Earth School — Sat 15th August | 11:00AM - 1:00PM

Saturday, 15 August 2026, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm Mangaroa Market Garden

Join Mangaroa Farms for Community Herbalism with Earth School. Learning and doing alongside our tamariki is what we love. However, we appreciate this can sometimes be hard, so we're learning alongside each other at a community level. Come join Earth School Aotearoa for our first community herbalism workshop. This is the first of quarterly sessions where you can come and make all your seasonal remedies, either by yourself or as a whānau. Bring the kids for no extra cost (adult ones too). These are grass roots, barefoot, children running around events where there's extra eyes and support to be able to learn and make what you need for your home-based seasonal wellness remedies. There are experienced tutors there able to help, with their own children in attendance. If you've ever wanted to take more control of your remedies and aren't able to afford the prices of some, or generally just want to learn alongside others in a more relaxed environment, then this is made for you. This season is about waking up. The days are getting longer, and our lymphatic systems need waking up. We'll make mixes and blends suitable for waking up these systems and a balm for itchy bits as bugs start waking up too. At this workshop, you'll also be given seeds and root divisions for some vital herbs to have in your garden or community. Ticket prices include the cost of ingredients but not vessels or jars. You'll need to source and bring them yourself. More information will be emailed. Places are limited as we need to source ingredients in advance, so sign up and bring the whānau (newborn or old). Cost of the ticket is for one of each remedy made. You're welcome to stay longer or for the whole session. BYO lunch. Meet at the Mangaroa Farm Shop at 196 Whitemans Valley Road where we'll head to our learning area. We will begin at Sat 15th August | 11:00am at 108 Whitemans Valley Road (Garden) Any questions, please email events@mangaroa.org
