Upcoming Events

Come and join us for one of our favourite days of the year as we plant native trees and restore ecosystems in the Valley. This year we'll be planting a special area on the Farm, helping create healthier waterways, richer biodiversity, and a more resilient landscape for future generations. Whether you've planted one tree or one thousand, everyone is welcome. We'll be planting from 10:00am–3:00pm, followed by a Mangaroa Farms sausage sizzle and soup. If the weather is in our favour we'd also love to celebrate with you around the fire with music, yarns and maybe even some dancing. What to bring:🌿 BYO lunch and snacks (to see you through to 3pm)💧 Water bottle🥾 Sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing (warm layers essential)🪏 If you have a spade, pocket knife and/or rubber mallet (for hitting in staples), feel free to bring those along Whether you're coming to give back, learn a few skills, meet good people, or simply spend a day outdoors, we'd love to have you with us. Also a shout out to Greater Wellington for supplying the trees and Groundtruth for the planting plan. Many hands make light work and every tree planted is an investment in the generations to come. Join the Earth School Aotearoa theme for a wild forage walk, timed with the season . We are big believers in learning with our Children, be it adult ones, or younger, so this walk is priced per family, not per person. Come as one, or come as many and come for a wild forage walk looking at late winter foraging foods to help wake up our systems from winter. The walk is pram friendly, and will be about 1 hour. Price is per family. Please park in the paddock beside the shop and meet under the farm shop shelter. Wet weather. We will notify if we need to cancel within 48 hours, if the weather is too wet we have alternative locations and we may choose to make food from foraged plants instead. BROS is an organisation focused on wellbeing and connection for men in Aotearoa New Zealand, hosting events around the country of all sizes. The mission for BROS is to gather more men around more fires. Our men's circles are the entry point. Sitting around the fire like we have done for thousands of years. To listen, speak, and be together Casual, easygoing conversation about what's real in our lives. This space is open for all men. Join Mangaroa Farms for Winter Propagation, where we'll gather to learn the art of keeping plants going through the colder months. Winter is a great time for propagating hardwood cuttings and root division of plants. We'll be working in our on-site nursery, managed by Heritage Nursery, exploring the practical skills that help gardens thrive year-round. We will be propagating for our fruit and foraging trail going in, but you will be welcome to take some home for yourself. You'll get hands-on with cuttings from various fruiting and non-fruiting species, and we'll talk through different rooting hormones and propagation methods that actually work. We'll also dive into root divisions, so you can see how it's done and have a go yourself. Everyone takes home root divisions and cuttings of herbaceous and tree species, including fruiting trees, to continue the mahi at home. The workshop is a part of our fundraiser for our Fruit & Forage loop - making our farm loop track into an edible food forest. You can learn more and donate to the cause here. This workshop is held in the shelter of our nursery at 196 Whitemans Valley Road, and will happen regardless of the weather. It can get chilly though, so rug up warm. This hands-on workshop will help you design your perfect orchard, whether you're working with a rural property or a small urban space. We'll walk through your property's conditions and goals, discuss the best tree sources and rootstocks, and cover essential knowledge about pollinators and planting care to ensure abundant future harvests. This mahi is perfect for DIY enthusiasts wanting to map out their fruit tree dreams. Please bring three A3 satellite images of your property and knowledge of winter and summer sun paths. For guidance, email heritagenurserynz@gmail.com. Tamariki are welcome to play in our permaculture maze (visible from the nursery) while you work. The workshop runs for two hours, though you may finish earlier depending on your prior knowledge and site size. We will begin at SSat 4th July | 11:00am at Shop - 98 Whitemans Valley Road. Join Mangaroa Farms for Winter Pruning Workshop Join us for a hands-on, practical fruit tree workshop designed to give you the knowledge and skills to grow thriving, productive trees. Whether you're planting your first sapling or looking to fine-tune your pruning technique, this mahi will set you up for success. This two-hour outdoor workshop offers both essential information and up-close, in-the-field learning. We'll head into an established orchard for hands-on pruning, where you'll learn how to manage existing trees, master winter pruning techniques, and work confidently with various species. Join Mangaroa Farms for Sourdough Bread Baking An afternoon in the kitchen at Mangaroa with bread master Doris Zuur, who has been baking the slow way for decades. Experience the art of creating rye sourdoughs raised on living starter, wholemeal loaves that rise through an afternoon, hand-plaited Swiss Zopf, focaccia, and fermented buckwheat loaf for those who can't take wheat. Spend time in our wharekai learning how to mix, knead, plait and bake alongside Doris. Discover how to keep a starter alive, read a dough by touch, and make the small decisions—temperature, time, aroha—that transform simple ingredients into a beautiful loaf. You'll take home:- A jar of living starter- A warm loaf fresh from the oven- Doris's full recipe collection- Access to her "0800 bread helpline" for when you need guidance at home Afternoon tea included. Coupling the breath with immersive music may result in different forms of cathartic emotional releases such as laughing, moving, crying, yelling, and shaking. All forms of expression are encouraged as it allows the body to move any pent up energy and create space for the second half of the breathwork journey.
