1. About us
These terms cover your use of the Mangaroa Farms websites (mangaroa.org and its subdomains), our online shop and meat ordering, event tickets, and programme applications. "We" means Mangaroa Farms Limited, a non-profit limited company wholly owned by the Biome Trust, 108 Whitemans Valley Road, Upper Hutt 5371, New Zealand. By using our websites or placing an order, you agree to these terms.
2. Using our websites
Our websites are provided in good faith and we work to keep information accurate and up to date, but content (including event details, prices, and availability) may change. Please don't misuse the sites — no attempts to breach security, scrape personal data, or submit false or harmful content.
3. Intellectual property
The content on our websites — words, photos, video, and design — belongs to Mangaroa Farms or its contributors. You're welcome to share links; please ask before republishing content at welcome@mangaroa.org.
4. Event tickets & registrations
- Tickets are sold through our online shop checkout; your payment is handled by the payment provider (see §6).
- If we need to change or cancel an event, we'll make every reasonable effort to let ticket holders know, and offer a transfer or refund where the event can't go ahead.
- Some events and programmes have their own specific terms, shown at the point of booking — those apply in addition to these.
5. Shop orders & cutoff times
- All prices are in New Zealand dollars. Price changes are shown on the website, and we make every reasonable effort to give at least one week's notice.
- Orders for same-week delivery or pickup close on Wednesday each week — the shop shows the current cutoff. Orders after the cutoff are sent the following week.
- The name on your card statement will be MANGAROA FARMS.
6. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe (and Shopify for shop/ticket checkouts). We do not store your credit card information. For meat orders, your card is charged when your order is packed, once variable meat weights are finalised. Payment must be received before orders are shipped.
7. Delivery & pickup
- We distribute weekly on Thursday mornings, working with NZ Post to meet delivery targets.
- Greater Wellington (Upper Hutt to Wellington Peninsula & Porirua): frozen delivery arriving Thursday afternoon/evening.
- Rest of the North Island: overnight chill-packed delivery arriving Friday (may arrive partially defrosted).
- Unfortunately we can't ship to rural addresses or the South Island.
- Pickup: by selecting pickup at checkout you agree to collect your order during Farm Shop open hours (shown at checkout and on mangaroa.org).
- We love re-using packaging — if your boxes, chill packs, or wool insulation are unspoiled, you're welcome to return them to the shop.
8. Product care — frozen meat
- All meat is dispatched frozen. If it arrives still frozen it can be kept in the freezer for 6–12 months.
- If meat arrives partially defrosted but still has visible ice, it's safe to refreeze. If it's noticeably thawed, don't refreeze — refrigerate and consume within 5 days.
- Because our meat is frozen immediately after processing, you can safely add up to one year to any "fresh meat" best-before date on the label.
- If your box arrives and the contents are warm, don't consume them — contact us immediately at shop@mangaroa.org.
9. Cancellations & refunds
Due to the perishable nature of our products, we can't accept order cancellations less than one working day before the delivery date. If you're unhappy with any product, we'll offer a replacement; if that doesn't resolve it, we'll refund your payment. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
10. Visiting the farm
Mangaroa is a working farm. When visiting, please follow signage and our team's instructions, supervise children, and take care around animals, machinery, and waterways.
11. Applications & submissions
When you submit an event listing, application, or other content through our forms, you confirm it's accurate and yours to share, and you allow us to store and review it for the purpose you submitted it. Personal information in submissions is handled under our Privacy Policy.
12. Liability
To the extent permitted by New Zealand law, we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of our websites. Where you acquire goods or services from us for personal use, your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and Fair Trading Act 1986 are not affected by these terms.
13. Changes to these terms
If we need to change these terms we'll make every reasonable effort to let you know, and we'll update the date at the top of this page.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
